SDSS Supernova Candidate Table Portal

This page offers access to information about all events that were identified as potential supernovae (aka supernova candidates) during the SDSS-II Supernova Survey, based on human inspection of before/after/subtracted image cutouts around each object that had been detected in at least 2 of 3 of the gri passbands in a subtracted image (search image - template image). For details of how the search was conducted, see M. Sako, et al., AJ,135,348 (2008).

Check which types of object to display and then hit the Candidates button to view the list of all SN Candidates of those types. `SN types' includes candidates that were classified as confirmed or likely SNe, based on their light curves and/or spectra. `Other types' includes candidates that were later identified as some other variable object, e.g., an AGN, asteroid, etc; the classification of events in this category is very incomplete. `Untyped' includes objects that were never classified after being initially tagged as a candidate.
